Health & Safety

Mauka Makai Adventures has implemented the following policies for all participants on our tours.  These policies follow federal, state and local regulations and are subject to change without notice. The health and safety of our guests, our family and island community is our top priority!

Face Coverings:

All guests are required to wear a face mask that covers the mouth and nose when traveling in the vehicle for the duration of the tour.  Face masks may only be removed when outdoors in open air and social distancing of 6 feet or more can be maintained.  We will ask you to carry your mask with you on trails in the national park.  All guests must agree to follow guide instructions.

Tour guides will be wearing a mask when interacting with guests.

Hand Sanitizer:

Hand sanitizer will be provided and available to all guests.  All passengers must sanitize their hands before entering the vehicle.

Temperature Check and Health Questionnaire:

A health questionnaire and temperature checks are mandatory prior to boarding the vehicle.  Any guest with a temperature (99.9+ degrees) will not be allowed to participate in the tour.

Boarding and Seating Arrangements:

Boarding will be done from the rear to front at each stop.  Seat changes are not allowed for the duration of the tour.  The front passenger seat will not be available for the safety of our guide and 'ohana.

Social Distancing:

Tour group sizes have been reduced and guest time in the van has been minimized where possible.  Private tours are available.
Social distancing of 6 feet or more is encouraged at all times outside.  Tour routes will be amended as needed to avoid crowded areas.

Sanitation Procedures:

All vehicles and supplies are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with CDC approved sanitizers following every tour.

Guide Protocol:

All tour guides are subject to the same health questionnaire as guests and are required to take a temperature check prior to work.  Any guide with a temperature (99.9+ degrees) must stay home.

CDC Guide:

The CDC guidance on the prevention of COVID-19 continues to evolve.  It is everyone's kuleana (responsibility) to practice everyday habits of cleanliness and malama (to care) for one another to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Please kokua (kindly help) and do your part!
